Hip Pain

As a general rule, pain from the hip joint is felt in the groin. Pain from the gluteal tendons (the tendons of the buttock muscles) is felt on the side of the hip.

Of course, not everyone’s pain follows the rules.

Hip joint pain will hurt with weightbearing and change of direction. It can often ache at night even when unloaded.

Hip tendon pain hurts to lie on your side. It commonly refers down the otside of the leg and into the lower leg and can be confused with other conditions.

Sometimes pain felt in the hip is referred from somewhere else. Make sure you have a clear diagnosis before embarking on a plan of treatment.

At MP Sports Physicians, we are uniquely qualified to diagnose, investigate and treat your hip pain.

Treatment options may include painkillers, injections, shock wave, autologous blood or soft tissue work and strengthening amongst others.
