Stem Cells.

Stem cell therapy is an emerging but still experimental therapy for the management of osteoarthritis.

Dr Leesa Huguenin, through her appointment at the Melbourne Stem Cell Centre, is involved in this exciting area of research.

Currently, there are no funded clinical trials recruiting. The previous trials are still underway with results expected later this year.

Some patients are choosing to have this treatment privately. For those that agree, all of their outcome data is also being analysed to monitor outcomes.

Stem cell therapy has proven to be safe in multiple trials around the world

The aim of stem cell therapy is to regrow cartilage in damaged joints.

It needs to be remembered that not all joints respond the same and not all joints are suitable.

If you would like to discuss the use of stem cell therapy for your osteoarthritis, you can make an appointment to see Dr Huguenin at any of our clinics on (03) 9770 2398.

At this appointment, Dr Huguenin will discuss ALL the possible treatments for your knee, helping you to make the best decision for yourself. If you are suitable for stem cell treatment, all of your stem cell procedures will be done by Dr Huguenin at the Melbourne Stem Cell Centre. All of your follow up appointments will be done locally.
